Our team

I studied medicine at Ghent University, in the city where I was born and grew up. I gained further experience as a trainee GP in West Flanders. When I qualified as a GP in 2020, I decided to join the practice of Dr Van Woensel and Dr Heijlen in beautiful De Haan. After six good years and a wealth of experience, it was time for the next step, and I started the Duinrand GP practice.

Dear patients,

After 45 years in practice, I still have the drive to keep learning so I can give my patients the best care.

I came to know care, and the beauty of it, during a happy childhood in the countryside of the Kempen.

After studying medicine at KU Leuven, I worked as a recognised and accredited GP for 20 years in the multicultural former mining town of Beringen, where I was also active in football.

Circumstances then took me to the Netherlands, again as a GP, where I also provided acute and physical care in a large psychiatric institution and in nursing and care homes around Breda.

After a short spell as a GP in Antwerp, I longed for cleaner air and a quieter life and decided to move to the coast. And so here I am.

I graduated in medicine from KU Leuven in 2022. After three years of GP training in Bertem, Kortenberg and in paediatrics at UZ Leuven, I qualified as a GP in 2025. Since then I have worked as a locum GP in Brussels, Oudenburg and Ostend. I will cover for Dr Sarah Duhamel during her maternity leave, from mid-November 2026 to mid-March 2027.
