What does this statement cover?
This website: what happens when you visit it, and what we do with the data that comes in.
What happens when you visit the website?
Our website is hosted by mijn.host, a web host in the Netherlands. Like every web server, theirs keeps a log of each request:
- the IP address the page is requested from;
- date and time;
- which page or file;
- the page you came from, if your browser passes it on;
- the type of browser and device.
The log is needed to show the website, to find faults and to spot abuse such as break-in attempts. The host keeps it for about a month and does not use it for its own purposes. We do this on the basis of our legitimate interest: a website that stays safe and available.
Visitor numbers
We want to know which pages are read, so we can keep the website useful. For that we use Matomo, a program that runs on our own server, not at another company.
- Matomo gets its data every night from the previous day's log. Nothing extra runs in your browser.
- Before anything is stored, we erase the last part of your IP address (for a regular address, the last two of its four numbers). That way it can no longer be traced to you or your connection.
- We leave out search engines and other automated visitors as far as possible.
- We build no profiles, link nothing to other data and share nothing with anyone.
- The data per visit is deleted after 180 days. What remains are totals, such as the number of visits per month.
Our host's control panel also makes general visitor numbers from the same log.
We do this on the basis of our legitimate interest. We weighed it up: your privacy is barely affected, because we cannot recognise you and read nothing from your device.
Cookies
This website sets no cookies and stores nothing on your device. Fonts, photos and the map come from our own server. There are no social media buttons and no embedded maps or videos from other companies.
Links to other websites
Some buttons and links take you to another website, such as the route planners of Google Maps, Apple Maps and OpenStreetMap, or the organisations under useful links. From then on, that website's privacy statement applies. Nothing is sent to that website until you click.
Contact by phone or email
If you call or email us, we use your details only to answer your question, and keep them no longer than needed for that.
Your rights
You can always ask us:
- which data we hold about you, and for a copy;
- to correct or delete it;
- to restrict its use;
- to stop using it (objection), also for the visitor numbers.
Send your request to info@huisartsenduinrand.be or ask at the reception desk. We reply within a month. Sometimes we first ask who you are, so we don't give data to the wrong person.
You can also file a complaint with the Belgian Data Protection Authority (https://www.dataprotectionauthority.be).
Changes
If something changes on the website that affects your data, we update this statement. Version 1.0, 9 October 2026.
